War And Peace

This is the translation by Anthony Briggs. I read a different translation about 10 years ago, probably it was Maude's, don't recollect but I find this one to be definitely more lucid and fluent . The English has been so wonderfully written it has improved my vocabulary. I am at volume 3 and I can say it's not just reading, it is an experience, and a privilege. Strongly recommend

Was a really good read.Even those who doesn't read classics can read this and I have read almost most of it's translations and I can say that this one by penguin classics are the best

I am not the least qualified to criticize Leo Tolstoy's novels, so I can only tell about the publication of war and peace. Amazon has done a brilliant job here delivering this book in an apt manner so did the publishing house- Penguin Random House UK. My sincere gratitude to both and last but not the least - One should try once to read War and Peace. ✌️

The story is captivating I am still reading but so far the story is so good I have seen people on YouTube suggesting that the book is boring but yeah I don't think that's the case at all you'll learn a lot about life from this book if you dwell upon the actions of the character in the book on different circumstances. I didn't give 5 stars because I just can't give a perfect score to anything but yeah lovely edition.

Beautiful clothbound edition by Penguin classics. Anthony Briggs translation. No complicated words and easy to read. If money is not a problem, just go for it (totally perfect book). Packaging can be improved and fast delivery by amazon.

I finally did it - I read "War and Peace" - and this Penguin Clothbound Classics edition made the journey as beautiful as it was rewarding. First, the physical book itself is stunning. The clothbound cover design is a work of art. The paper quality is excellent, the binding is sturdy, and despite being over 1,200 pages, it's surprisingly comfortable to hold and read. This edition looks incredible on the shelf but is clearly designed to be read, not just displayed. As for Tolstoy's masterpiece - where do I even start? Yes, it's long, but I was never bored. The battle scenes are thrilling, the ballroom scenes are elegant, and the philosophical sections (which everyone warns you about) were actually some of my favorite parts. The way Tolstoy weaves together dozens of characters across war and peace, love and death, is simply masterful. Pierre's search for meaning, Natasha's coming of age, Prince Andrei's arc - these characters became real to me. I genuinely cared what happened to them. The translation in this edition is clear and readable while maintaining the richness of Tolstoy's prose. This is an investment, but one I don't regret for a second. If you've been intimidated by "War and Peace," this edition makes it feel achievable and special.

I love this edition. Beautiful cover and it all fit in 1 book, normally this story has 2 books. I have not read it yet, but its a beautiful decor piece as well. Great for classic collectors and worth the money

A edição é sensacional. Tamanho adequado tanto para a capa quanto para as letras, papel de qualidade, resistente e muito, muito bonito. Comprei em inglês pra praticar e também neste quesito é excelente, aprendi várias palavras novas sem que a tarefa tenha sido por isso enfadonha. A história também é impressionante, ainda estou na metade mas a quantidade de post-it’s que eu coloquei no livro já demonstra o quanto ele me ensina (são vários!). Recomendo bastante.
