Birthday Bugs: A Pop-up Party by David A. Carter (David Carter's Bugs)

My husband came home last Christmas with "Winter Bugs" for our then 2mo son. We were like, what the heck is a winter bug? But the book was really cute and our son seemed to enjoy us reading it to him. I was surfing Amazon recently and stumbled across some other bug pop-up books by David Carter. Easter is coming up so I bought "Easter Bugs" for his basket. I also bought "Bedtime Bugs" because it looked cute. Lastly, my son is an October baby, so I bought "Halloween Bugs" and "Birthday Bugs." We're going to have a house full of bugs! Each book is adorable. I'm a little concerned about the delicacy of the designs, since they are so intricate, but I'm hoping we can teach him to be careful as we read them together. Recommended for your home library.

Birthday Bugs is a fun fest! All Carter’s books are great for ages 2+. Intriguing and exciting for little little ones. Even older kids want to read them.

Fun book, 4 year old loves it, even just to flip through on their own during the day.

Super cute birthday book! My 3 ry old loves it! I think it’s great for children 3-10. Younger ones may enjoy looking at it as well but there are lots of delicate interactive pieces which are likely to be torn.

This is a very cute and imaginative book, but there are a lot of little pieces in the book that can be lost or items that don't easily fold in on themselves. Examples of this include a birthday present that requires the ribbon on it to be retied after each reading. There is another page with loose birthday candles that can be removed from an envelope and inserted into a birthday cake. While a cute idea, the candles get bent when used by children and can be lost. This leaves lots of room for misplaced items. I'm a huge fan of the bugs books, but I wound up returning this book.

For the kid who has almost everything but not this book. My guy,(age 4), loves to read the, vintage, “Bugs in a Box” series, with me. He’s going to be so excited to have his very own, pop-up, birthday book.

My kids loved their “bugs” books, now my granddaughters can love them too!

Fantastic book! This is a beautiful little book- perfect for a birthday present. These are aimed at young children but both my daughters still adore them they are 5 and 11! This has a little party hat for the reader to put on and ten candles in a pocket at the back to place on the pop up birthday cake- it will be a lovely tradition each birthday to read and add the candles. Great quality unlike Snow Bugs which I bought at the same time.

I have been collecting pop up books since my children were young and I enjoy reading them to my students each year.
