Great book about the Puget Sound
We love this book! We bought 6 of these books that we gave for gifts and everyone is enjoying reading their books. We just had to place a 2nd order since we still need a few belated gifts. This is great for any seafood lover, boater or anyone who loves to read about the Puget Sound.

Interesting read but not something to carry with you
Bought this book for an upcoming Pacific Coast car trip. It gave a broad overall view what is offered for Pacific seafood naming some restaurants and provided recipes in the back of the book. My complaint was there wasn't enough information on each of the restaurants to make this book stand alone as a restaurant guide. There were no price $$$ indicators, no addresses or phone numbers. Worst was, maps provided for each city visited but there were NO restaurant locations on the maps! They were just a quickie map of the city. So this book is definitely not a restaurant guide. The recipes in the back were nothing I would consider making. They reminde It does provide you with information about digging your own clams and names some parks. Again, no specific information you can use the book as a reference source. Sort of useless since only locals have the time, clothing and equipment and insider information on where to clam. Don't forget your state permits too. This book is just a little interesting read, maybe to get you

Salmon and oysters and crab and halibut and clam digging...yes to all!
Full disclosure: Karen is a friend. But I'd love this book regardless. If you are from the Pacific Northwest, or enjoy food-based tourism and are contemplating a trip there, you'll want to have a copy of this book handy. It's a travelogue, a restaurant guide and a recipe book all in one. Pictures are fantastic. And best of all, you get Karen's unique and lyrical voice throughout!

I purchased multiple copies of this fine book for friends who are constantly searching for the best in seafood. The only glaring omission was 100 year old/3rd generation Josephson's Specialty Seafoods in Astoria, OR. (106 Marine Drive Astoria OR 97103-4324). Josephson's sets the standard for smoked salmon and the Wine Maple Smoked Salmon is one of the very favorites. I hope that Karen Gaudette Brewer has an opportunity to visit with Mike Josephson and sample many of his smoked fish offerings for her next revision of her book.

A must-have for any seafood lover.
Amazing cookbook that is far beyond just a cookbook. Loads of great tips and places to try out northwest seafood without having to cook. It's a wonderful addition to my food library!
