A series of Essays on Rear Window.
John Belton was the editor and this was a series of essays on the movie Rear Window by academics. Perhaps a book more suited to students of film at university. One or two of the essays wandered off the title subject and one, wandered so far, I thought, was it a mistake? Broaching, psychology, misogyny, feminism etc., an interesting read, just the same. I only wish someone would write a really good cover to cover biography of Rear Window, similar to what has been done with Kubrick in films like 2001 and The Shining. A very good example is Space Odyssey by Michael Benson, which I can thoroughly recommend. A study of Rear Window, or Vertigo in that vein would be ideal. So it was readable, but not outstanding, to me anyway.

Many interesting essais which help to iluminate one of the best movies of all time. The introduction by John Belton is among the best summaries I have read about the movie ever, it is extremly useful and iluminating. A good reading and highly recommended.

A number of articles on one of Hitchcock's best-known movies--the gender point of view; the psychological point of view, etc. Lots of good info on production. A good book for Hitchcock fans.
