This book is one of the best spiral guides I have ever read using the Rule of St Benedict. It is so down to earthand filled with such practical wisdom for living a very simple but very real and true spiritual life that is so neededIn our modern world. God is simple we are the complicated ones. To love God and to really care about and loveall those that He has put into our lives is beautifully shown in this little gem of a book. I was loaned a copy of this book by a friend, as I am contemplating becoming a Benedictine oblate. I enjoyed it so much that I had to have my own copy. While this is NOT the Rule of St. Benedict in its original form, I loved how it explained important aspects of the rule in modern context. I also liked that it was arranged in such a way that one could read it straight through or in chapters and could use it as a retreat manual.

St Benedict is an inspiration to all of us and this book puts his thinking into clear understandable reading.

Timely wisdom, a wonderful addition to my library!

Format was not as I expected however it has held my interest

This book is written so it can be used privately, as well as with a group, for spiritual growth. All that is required is to take some quiet time, daily if possible, to reflect on the various spiritual qualities discussed ~ such as 'listening,' 'humility,' perseverance,' 'joy,' I highly recommend it.

Simple rules which leads to a blessed and fuller life.

This is my second copy of this very readable, enjoyable book. My other copy on loan to a friend. I missed not being able to refer to it, so I got a second.
