JET 24x12x1 Electrostatic Outer Air Filter, fits AFS-1000B/1000C (708732)

Great value well-built. The washable version cost a bit more money but well worth it in the long run definitely saves money easy to clean.

I can't believe the difference this JET 24x12x1 Electrostatic Outer Air Filter has made in my home! After installing it, I noticed an immediate improvement in air quality. It effectively captures dust, pollen, and other allergens, leaving the air feeling fresh and clean. Plus, it's durable and easy to clean, making maintenance a breeze. I definitely prefer the electrostatic filter compared to the standard filter because of the ease of cleaning it with my compressor and not having to buy new filters.

I bought this for my Jet AFS-1000b unit because it got good reviews and was washable. Two negatives right away. First off no instructions with product at all. No indication which way airflow is so I am basically guessing. A sticker would have been most helpful. Second it is listed as a direct fit for the unit by the manufacturer but it actually is 1/4" small on all four sides. Whoever heard of an air filter that was sized wrong so air can flow around the sides. I know other people have noticed this and I read there solutions so I will fix it myself but who wants to pay good money for an item that they have to fix first thing. Very sad that a company operates this way. Shame on you, Jet.

In the long run, it's much more affordable to buy a washable filter. I'm pretty sensitive to dust and would continue to use paper filters after they were effective, causing me to sneeze a lot. With this filter I rinse it out and I'm good to go! This filter has a reinforced metal frame and a support grid for the filter medium, so it seems pretty sturdy. Tested it out while sanding some mahogany in my small shop; filter turned brown pretty quick and continued to be effective. Knew I needed to wash it when it made a "wheezing" sound. Cleaned it by pouring warm water through the back side to free the dust and not embed it deeper in the filter. Was apprehensive because cheap micron furnace filters go for a few bucks a piece, but this was a good invesment.

I installed the Jet reusable filter in my Powertec 1000 cfm air cleaner that is a copy of the Jet unit and essentially rebadged Wen 3417 unit, so I can report that it does filter the other units that also take 12x24 filters. Overall, I’m quite happy with it. Airflow seems good and it seems to be filtering at least as well as the stock filter, if not better. I think the lack of cardboard covering may improve air flow marginally. It seems well made and like it should hold up to many washings. At roughly 2.5x the cost of the disposable filters, it should pay for itself in the first year with the amount of woodwork I do.The only downside is that the filter measures slightly less than 12x24 and leaves about 1/4” gap on all sides. Based on other reviews, this seems to hold true for the Jet unit as well as the Wen and others. While the secondary filter frame is tighter fitting and should have stopped most of the air from passing around the filter, the fit left something to be desired. I had some spare foam weatherstripping laying around and so I attached that to the sides and it filled the gap perfectly.Overall, quite happy with the product as it is a high quality washable filter. I did dock a star for the gap issue. While it’s easily and cheaply solved with foam weatherstripping, for the price, Jet should have added the foam themselves or at least provided it with filter.

The Jet AFS-1000B is currently the primary dust collector in my new 840 sq ft shop. In the past few months I went through 3 standard filters, often cleaning them on a daily basis. Even with this, the filtration wasn't great. Since receiving the electrostatic filter, the filtration is super and the maintenance has dropped considerably. The filter arrived in great shape and installed without any problems. The metal frame and bracing keeps it rigid for handling and cleaning. I've washed once, at the end of the day, and it was ready to install the next morning. It is definitely a serious improvement over the standard filter and definitely worth the price!!!!!!
