One of the best Marvel Select figures for sure
One of the best Marvel Select figures for sure. Fantastic sculpt, great accessories and in general a really good looking figure.

Looks amazing, poses badly
Another fantastic sculpt with beautiful paintwork let down by truly crappy articulation. This Gambit may as well be a statue.Getting this big negative out of the way early on, his head is on a ball peg which affords pretty decent head articulation, it swivels and rocks well even if he can’t look up or down too much. He has ball hinges for shoulders which don’t go down to his sides or raise up to the 90 degree mark, bicep swivel, single jointed elbows and wrist swivel (but no pivot) and he has a diaphragm joint that does nothing other than break the sculpt (literally why bother?); this is especially frustrating because they didn’t give him waist swivel so as not to break the sculpt [EDIT: after submerging the torso in hot water and working it a bit, I was able to get the diaphragm joint to work - ironically it’s a very good diaphragm joint with lots of crunch and decent swivel. This doesn’t change the review score because this is, in my mind, still a three star figure, but I felt I needed to make this edit in order to keep the review accurate - I’ve added a new photo of the figure posed with the diaphragm joint crunches forward]. Moving onto the lower half and you get the standard Diamond Select ball joint for the hips, which also affords thigh rotation but is incredibly frustrating to reposition and frequently rolls itself round into odd positions. It has single jointed knees and hinged ankles (no ankle rocker). He stands up straight just fine, but try to pose him any other way and he’s a bit wobbly.I do give Diamond Select credit for making a clear effort to improve the articulation of its figures in more recent releases.Accessories are a mixed bag, but a couple really stand out. You get:* one kinetically charged card and a gripping hand specifically for that card - this is a great accessory and looks cool.* Two sets of three kinetically charged cards in a throwing pattern and a hand that specifically ports (really well) into one of those sets. Confusingly the other set has no discernible way for it to be used with the figure and I’m not sure why it’s included.* One extra gripping hand which is fine.* One staff which is nicely sculpted but is a little on the short side and too thin for his gripping hand so it slides around; you either have to prop it up or balance it horizontally - I tried to get him to bend at the shoulder/elbow and rest the staff across his shoulders but the articulation just does not allow it.* A danger room display base/diorama that can port into the other danger room dioramas sold with other X-Men figures in the line. It’s pretty good.At this point I sound like I’m really hating on the figure but I’m actually really happy with the sculpt and paint. The face looks fantastic and the colour scheme evokes that classic 90s Jim Lee aesthetic, there’s a particularly nice black wash over the torso that really brings out the detail in the sculpt. Some of the line work in the silver belt has bled into the torso but it doesn’t bother me too much and can’t really be seen at a distance. The trench coat is sculpted really nicely, black washed to bring out the details and it really gives a good impression of motion, something that Hasbro still hasn’t figured out how to do effectively. Diamond Select really does know how to sculpt and paint a gorgeous looking figure. As a display piece, if you’re not worried about articulation, you’ll be really happy with this.As a toy, I’d take a pass and wait and see how Hasbro’s Jim Lee Gambit turns out later this year. If you’re feeling particularly adventurous maybe even spend the extra bucks and pick up the Amazing Yamaguchi Gambit when that eventually releases.

Disappointing
Sloppy paint, lips crocked, jacket missing weathering, sloppy, boss eyed, loose leg, very dodgy and for the price it's not acceptable. Wondering if it's some knock off as it's nothing like my fiends he bought 2 years ago from DCC.

what another great figure, details great
what another great figure, details great, the only problem i have is he has numurous left hands to change but no right hands and the right hand struggles to hold the staff correctly which with a lil bit of bluetack can be easily rectified.

Very stiff to no movement in arms
While I really love this figures aesthetics I am disheartened by its lack of mobility in the arms which offers almost no mobility in the left arm (which is stuck in mid air) and stiff movement in the right. This reduces it's pose ability dramatically. I don't know if this is just a problem with my figure or not.
