Westinghouse 3-Outlet Outdoor Heavy Duty Digital Photocell Timer

I loved this timer as it's the only outdoor timer I've found that will turn on the lights at dusk but always shut them off at a certain time rather than say four hours AFTER dusk.The problem is I used it for one season, and when I went to use it for its second season, the display first only showed half of all characters on the LCD and then none at all.Since the timer is useless without the LCD display, there was no way to recover from the problem and the warranty wasn't long enough to make it an issue that could be fixed.I will likely purchase another, only because there's no alternative.

Lots of complaints about this thing. Mine seems to work ok. Timer works like advertised. The solar cell doesn't always work so I doesn't come on when it gets dark, or it waits until its really dark. I use the timer portion and I use mine all year long. Works fine and for the price, whatever. It is difficult to set times.

I've had this timer for 3 or 4 years now and have only used it for Halloween and Christmas decorations (2 months a year). This past Halloween (2012) I had the hardest time getting the timer to register that I had pushed a button. A month later and the display no longer shows the time and the buttons do nothing. Luckily I can still use it as a 3-outlet, but I will be ordering a replacement unit today. Also, the buttons are not intuitive and each year it would take me a long time to figure out what order I needed to push. It did have many possible combinations of time/day settings, but for holiday decorations, this wasn't necessary (not a shot against the product, just a statement that I will be looking for an on/off timer instead of something with so many un-used options).

This was my perfect solution for outdoor Xmas lights--not just a timer, but a three outlet one!! It was easy to program, and it enhanced my holiday season by reducing my "to do" list, thus reducing the stress!

Worst timer I have ever used. Waste of money.

Worked fine first 2 Christmas seasons but wil not energize this year. LCD screen appears to work but will not energize outlets, even with the "manual on" setting. Disappointing...

Had this unit for 3 years (runs Christmas lights in front of house and timer for kid's Sci-fair projects when needed).Came to amazon to order another one to run new set of lights on garage... ...and was surprised at bad reviewsOnly issue was I lost instructions.. so had to sit for ~5 minutes to figure out how to program it.Maybe I'm smarter than average person (my VCR/DVD players don't flash 12:00) but didn't take to long to figure out how to get my lights turn on at 5pm and off by 11pm every night.PS. if you program it inside.... leave it plugged in for ~15 minutes to charge up internal batteries so programming sticks while your run it outside and get it plugged in. (Kind of hard to program in full sunlight or darkness. since LCDs are hard to see in those conditions)

This thing has the most counter-intuitive user interface that is so hard to use and understand that you can't tell if you have successfully programmed it once you *think* you are done. I am appalled to see that junk like this can rate two stars. Somebody left off the minus sign. It's really sad when iconic American manufacturing companies sellout their own brand to make a few bucks.
