Fantastic way to nurture a love of Shakespeare
Incredible! My 7 year old and I love this series. Well-written, easy to understand for both adults/kids, and true enough to the originals. Written in rhymed prose, w few of the more famous lines speckled in here and there in their original form (...yet here's a spot! Out I say!). We've read Romeo & Juliet, Hamlet & Macbeth so far. All were great! Midsummer's Night Dream is up next. The best part (according to my daughter) are the illustrations and narratives by elementary school-aged students. Truly amazing and inspiring! Lois Burdett is our hero!

Wonderful way to introduce your child to Shakespeare!
This is a very cute book, broken down in a way that children can understand it. I found this to be an excellent introduction to Shakespeare for my 3 year old (who is just starting to appreciate books), as I hope that he will become a fan of Shakespeare as he gets older. There are also illustrations made by children to go along with the story, and my son LOVES looking at the work by children...more so than the lovely illustrations found in his other books. I would highly recommend this as a gift for any child, or an addition to a child's library (or preschool's library) if you want the child exposed to Shakespeare in a manner they can appreciate.

From teacher's view point : awsome!!
Using this book as the base to introduce young kids (K through 6th grade) the joy of Shakespeare. The kids are really getting into it.

Teacher of Gifted Students
This book is wonderful. I used this with students from 2nd through 6th grade and everyone enjoyed it. My students now have the impression that Shakespeare's works are wonderful fun. When these kids are introduced to Macbeth in high school they will already be familiar with the entire play and love it so they will be ahead of everyone else. We took each section and acted the play out with crazy props and they had a blast. I highly recommend this to any teachers to use with any age students.

teacher's response
I have used this at the high school level for students who have low reading levels. I also have used this in connection with explaining the story line. I have also used it at the elementary level where the younger students become fascinated by the story so that when it is introduced in high school, they already feel connected to the story and are not as intimidated by the language. I have used all of her books in these same ways.

Great for supplementing the actual play
I'm a high school English teacher and I'm doing Macbeth with my seniors. I got this book kind of as a joke, but it's actually very helpful as a supplement to the real play. After we get through a few scenes of Shakespeare, we read this kids' book and it's cute. It's also surprisingly detailed and accurate. Reading it would give you a real taste of the play! Very nicely done.

Good teaching resource
Lois Burdett has made Shakespeare's Macbeth accessible for children. The story is written in rhyming couplets making it child friendly and very enjoyable for all age groups. Burdette has incorporated copies of her pupils work throughout the book which not only shows the deep understanding of Macbeth they had but also gives loads of ideas for class lessons.Although this book is aimed at primary school age children, my daughter referred to it when she was struggling with her standard grade class reading of Macbeth and said that it helped greatly and made the language easier to understand.

A must buy for any Shakespeare topic!!
Absolutely brilliant!!! Purchased a few years ago but had to buy another copy as I lost my original!!! A version of Macbeth that is quite true to the original (many of the original famous quotes retained and written in rhyming couplets so the children get the flavour of the original) but the language is simplified for children. Perfect for Year 5/6! My class LOVED it! X

Helpful Study Tool.
This is part of the school curriculum, Year 5 and whilst it tells the story in rhyme, it is easy for children to understand. Hopefully later on it will encourage them to read the Shakespeare version and understand what an original and unique and unsurpassed master story teller he was.
