Had it for a year. Used it 3 times. Brother used once. No problems!
I purchased this generator in August of 2011 because Hurricane Irene was coming and it was estimated to be as bad as Isabel. I ordered it on the 25th (Thursday night) with the hopes it would arrive by Monday or Tuesday of the following week. Isabel was scheduled to hit on Saturday. The generator would hopefully be here in time just as the refrigerator would be starting to lose its ability to retain the cold. It shipped on Friday (26th) and showed up at my house on Saturday (27th). Can you say, Awesome?!!?!!.Storm came. Power went out. Generator started with no problems. Ran it for about 6-7 hours and luckily the power came on. I took it to my brother's house. He used it for about 3 days. No problems. Snowstorm in 2011. Ran for 2 days. No problems. Then came Hurricane/Superstorm Sandy one year later. Again, no problems.I have used it to run one sump pump, 2 refrigerators, entertainment system [consisting of 50" Plasma, Xbox360, TiVo, Wifi/router, Modem- All on a line conditioner of course], microwave, lights, fans and charging for no less then a half-dozen electronic devices. No difficulties (Nor should there be. It's 5000 watts for goodness sakes). It's as loud as a gas-powered engine should be. My neighbors on both sides of me have whole-house LP generators and they aren't that much quieter.I don't think there should be much reservation if you are considering this generator. It works. Chinese made or American made doesn't matter as long as it works. I remember this same hate for Japanese cars vs American made.

Good value
Love the footprint/dimensions of this generator for my trailer. Only started it up but have not used it dry camping yet.

Had Enough of Hurricane Sandy
After Hurricane Sandy hurled me back into the 'dark ages', I decided to be ready next time. The Briggs & Stratton arrived on the date it was scheduled to. Setup requires putting the wheels and support legs on. You'll need a socket wrench with 10mm and 18mm sockets, and 13mm and 18mm wrenches (or the equivalent non-millimeter sizes). The directions are clear and had no surprises. It took about 30 minutes from opening the box to adding fuel and oil. A bottle of engine oil came with the generator. The generator has a 5 gallon tank, but I only added about 2 gallons before testing it. Starting the generator requires pulling a standard recoil handle. I held my breath as I pulled it for the first time and happily it started with one pull. Have not had the opportunity to use the generator in blackout conditions, but so far everything has gone perfectly.

Nice power and reliable!
I originally bought this item around 4 years ago (sorry for the late review) after Super Storm Sandy. I wish that I did have this prior to the storm because our power was out for almost a week. Since them, we had 1 storm where the power was out for a couple of days and this generator did it's job very well. I will admit that it runs a bit louder than other models but non-the-less, it did the job! I found that the power rating was pretty spot on, despite what other reviewers are saying and I would highly recommend this item to anyone looking for a good intermediate generator.

Exactly as promised.
Oil came with the generator. Poured it in, addded gas, 3 pulls on the rope and it started right up. Perfect.

After two weeks of research this was what we picked
Picked up this beauty from the warehouse for 491 as an open box. We did our research, B&G generators is rated number 5 out of the 10 best generators by consumer affairs. This was an absolute steal and the machine is quality. It was an open box, no idea why someone would return it but their loss is our gain. Cranked right up the first time! After having to borrow one for two days during an ice storm we now know no matter what mother nature throws our way, B&G has got our backs.

Great for price.
Great for the money if you do not care for noise level and somewhat heavy. Also, can be issue with other gasoline generators. It is a problem to maintain idle without resulting to using choke, I cannot resolve this issue but for the money and occasional use it’s worth the money if you need something cheap with a lot of power.

Briggs & Stratton Deceiving the Public
I purchased this generator because it was a Briggs & Stratton and I have been very happy with my tractor and pressure washer. However, unike all the past Briggs & Stratton stuff I purchased that was Made in the USA, I thought this generator was made in the USA too - only to find out when it was delivered the box said MADE IN CHINA. I searched the FAQ's on Briggs & Stratton's website prior to the purchase and they assured me 90% of their engines are manufactured in the USA with the exception of certain models (none of them being the 30467):[...]Also, I called Amazon to find out where this generator was made and of course they didn't know and said they only list the information given to them by the manufacturer. Needless to say I'm very disappointed with my purchase and I would of returned it but it was a gift and the hassle factor was too great so in the future I'll go the stores where I can read the box for myself. It's just a damn shame becuase I would of gladly paid more money for a generator Made in the USA to save someone's job in this country and not contribute to the slave labor in China so some US company's greed gets the extra cash!!!!
