Great for Kids.
Purchased this for my 10 year old brother. He completely loved it. A great alternative to video games.

Three Stars
It was a Christmas present for my granddaughter. Because we don't live near them, I don't know the outcome.

Bought nine of them
I purchased nine of these to use at a middle school engineering camp, along with the solar power kit. I let my eight year old try one out and he was able to build the balance without any issues but that was the only time the instructions were used. Some of the parts are not very robust and the price is a bit high for what is included. Overall a good educational toy.

Buy something else. This is a real waste of time and money.
Awful ! Waste of money ! It would take a "model craftsman" to have the patience to assemble the paper items, such as the propeller and to determine each separate part to use. The turbo car photos are extremely poor and it cannot be assembled using them without prior knowledge or several hours of assembly and re-assembly. My grandson and I gave up of all of these. I am a retired Professor Emeritus of physics and hated I gave him this Physics Discovery item as his introduction to physics. I should have read the reviews more carefully.

Instructions TOO small
The idea is great, but the instructions are so small they are impossible to follow. It was necessary to go on computer and find the instructions and try to enlarge them.

Peace at last!
Another item bought to keep my easily bored 11yo busy during wet days over the summer, he has a bright inquisitive mind and lego kits just dont always hit the mark.I handed it over one afternoon and a few hours later was presented with the first project, this continued over the next few days. During this time he slowly started to learn more about physics and now is using the kit to make other items including a Lego Man Trap and a drinks carton lift.Im not sure if other kits in the series are inter-connectable, its a shame it cant be used with Lego or similar building products for kids as I think an bright inquiring mind would certainly develop more and make more stuff.

My 8year old son loves this set, he will ...
My 8year old son loves this set, he will go and do it on his own however t times he does ask for help.due to the instructions being very vague, even we found some of the instructions difficult to follow.

Seems very educational... Bought as a gift only time will tell.

Very tricky and fiddly.
We bought this kit for our 6 year old who is massively into engineering and who has a mechanical engineer father. Yet the kit is so difficult to assemble and the instructions really are not clear at all. For example, all three of us have tried to assemble the car on page 42 but none of us have managed. Its so fiddly and unclear and after several attempts we've given up.This kit compares very poorly with, for example, the John Adams Hot Wires electronics kit which is extremely easy to use (numbered parts, very large, very clear instructions). There's no reason for a physics discovery kit to be this tricky to use and its saying something if a person with two engineering masters degrees can't simply and quickly put it together.Im sure the kit will be loads of fun once we've got it working but I think we'll wait a couple of years until our son has the patience to figure it out himself
