A Comprehensive Monograph
It's hard to think of a better photographer for this current generation than Alex Prager. This book covers her entire career and goes deep into the inception and inspiration behind the images. The book is divided by three of her major works, the Polyester series, known for the saturated images of women in Cindy Sherman like distress. The Faces in the Crowd work, of overhead shots of people in crowds organized with excruciating detail. And the Opera, La Grande Sortie which is her most narrative work yet.The thing I enjoy most about the book and work is the joy she puts into the work. It's clear that Alex is technically and conceptually gifted photographer but her work is not dry art for walls and publications. It's something you can chuckle at, something you can smirk at like an inside joke. The images are reproduced well and the extra details, including an interview, really round out this monograph. It's also currently the best collection of her work.

wonderful
Prager is one of the best contemporary photographers of our day. Her images are instantly recognizable, filled with familiarity yet you get the sense you've never seen such a thing before. She's only been at her art for 11 years and she's not even 40 years old. Her future is bright.
