THIS UNIT IS JUNK, YOU'D BE BETTER OFF GETTING A PAIR OF WALKIE TALKIES, I RETURNED MY UNIT BACK TO THEM THEY REFUNDED MY MONEY

Hello, You can wipe the surface of RT9908 window speaker with alcohol wipes, the speakers are not waterproof. Sincerely, Angela

Q: Can the customer part of the unit be used in an outdoor environment at least where we have a 4 foot overhang? May get a little wet but not constantly.

I would not consider it weather proof but it should be OK for a while if it is just getting a misting from time to time but if it getting wet I dont think it will last long. The housing is plastic but I did not open it up to look at the microphone element
