Shoe size is key rather than ankle/calf measurements
The vascular surgeon looked at my shoe size and recommended that I get a size medium compression stockings to prevent the pitting ankle/calf edema (swelling) that I experience. I selected the Sigvaris Dynaven compression socks because the value related to price and appearance. I wear a shoe size 9 1/2-10 even though I am petite (5' 2 1/2") and my ankle/calf measurements indicate a size small and my shoe size indicate a size medium. I purchased both a short, small and medium size. The small would never have worked because the medium fits my feet snugly. The ankle compression feels noticeable. The calf compression does not feel noticeable, but the band of the sock rests just below my knee and the compression there is noticeable which is why I indicated a rating of 4 instead of 5. The size chart should include that shoe size should be the deciding factor when there is a discrepancy in size with the ankle/calf measurement and shoe size. Although, I am satisfied with this purchase. The stockings are not glaringly noticeable and I feel comfortable wearing them outside in public.

Compression socks for seniors, diabetes, ankle swelling, DVT. Good choice but...
I've worn compression socks most of the time for the last few years. I have severe and debilitating foot arthritis. Compression socks help keep the swelling down. Swollen ankles are caused by so many different things that I can't say exactly what disorder these are for. Anyway, I didn't love these. They felt more stylish than medicinal.

I've been wearing this product for years
I usually order these with a 10% off coupon on websites that carry compression socks and medical supplies but decided to order them on Amazon because of easy returns just in case. These are the same socks 20/30 Hg size ML I always wear. They seem a bit shorter than I'm used to but it will take time to be sure. I once ordered the MS and they slipped down from the knee. You want to get your first pair professionally fitted to your leg size (length, width and height). Any medical supply store would be happy to measure you. I wear them because they are recommended by a medical specialist and I really need to wear them for ankle swelling. I do not wear them at night. Make sure your doctor recommends what "strength" of Hg you need to buy and follow directions. It takes some getting used to putting them on and off. I would be in a lot of chronic pain if I didn't wear mine. Sigvaris is the best company in terms of quality but they are also the most expensive. I replace mine often as they do snag and wear out. Wash by hand only. No bleach.

The top rubber band and calf compression arn’t even.
When I first opened the box, saw the shape of the stocking, immediately I disappointed because calf size is wider than band. With anxious mind I tried on. The compressions of calf and the knee band are not even. As I expected the band pressure was much tighter the calf. In few hours later I removed the stockings. It was very uncomfortable, I felt it strangle my knees. There were the band marks on my knees. The varicose vein looks more bulging out before.(I was so excited to find out your company at the vein clinic, expensive but I believed it should be good quality. The clinic didn’t have knee high but thigh high only to sell. I had been looking for the best fitting stockings I ware petite small short )Over all I like your company stockings except the calf size are bigger than band. I wish the calf area is not wider(bigger) than the band so that calf and band are even pressured, that will be the perfect compression stockings.

Tight at knee, very unhealthy
This company has a great reputation. In the Medical store however I bought the highest quality sock which was only 10 dollars more…This sock, because the store did not have a second pair, I purchased as it is next in line and I would have a second pair fast….WRONG…..this sock is so tight at the knee that it cuts off circulation to the rest of my leg, upper leg. At the medical store it was clearly indicated to me that too tight at the knew is very unhealthy. Plus I am little. So if it is tight on me it is going to be tight on everyone. It is your choice to buy something unhealthy but I would stay away from unhealthy and something that can make you worse. It is too bad…and sad…..it is too bad….but it will make you worse….I just don’t understand it because with this company’s top of the line the knee elastic is perfect….do not suffer or create more health problems…..put the extra money into the top top top brands…..this condition if it is medical is nothing to fool around with….

open toed socks
I ordered closed toe socks and got open toed. I would order a second pair because they fit very well and are nice looking socks, but am afraid I would get another pair of open toed.
