Great product. Winter gets dark very early. I have to carry flashlights when walking my dog after dark, but sometimes I forget, and even I bring it with me I wish I have an extra hand to hold on. Very stressful until I bought this dog leash. The light is not too bright that irritates my doggie's eye, but it's bright enough for me to pickup his poo poo. Now I'm only using this leash while walking my dog

I am in love with this leash! It is a little more heavy duty than i actually need for my miniature schnauzer, but really works well. The light is bright and the leash retracts smoothly. My dog is two years old and very playful. She can romp and run freely with this leash but still be under my control. This is the third leash I've had and it works better than any of the others. I just use one hand and it is such a joy not to have to carry a flash light when taking my dog out at night. I would recommend it without reservation.

We received this item quickly, it was easy to pop the battery in and came with extra batteries for later. The product seems durable, the flashlight works well for our evening strolls and the leash deploys smoothly. The hook feels durable as well. I’m very pleased with this product thus far. I’ve had mine since early December and have used it several times. I feel my dog and I are much safer walking at night in the neighborhood. We still tend to stay close to home, but at least this way I feel safer knowing I’m not going to trip over something in the dark and the light helps keep us viable. People drive too fast through the neighborhood, even at night.

Whoever invented this leash (w/flashlight) should be celebrated and congratulated big time! I feel so lucky to have found this wonderful aid to what was a daily walking chore.I have perfect control of my full-grown St.Bernard when we walk now: the leash expands about 15 feet so he can rummage in bushes and sniff here and there, but then it automatically retracts neatly in sync as he walks back close to me (he never trips over the leash, or gets one leg tangled, as happened a lot before). In a congested area, I can simply lock the leash to a short, fixed length as we walk past lawns without getting on neighbors' nerves. The click-on built-in flashlight is very bright, and will be perfect at night or when it turns to dusk on a long walk. So much better than lugging a heavy flashlight separately, or not having one as needed. The dog is happy and I am happy, in control and much relieved of stress... cannot believe how I put up with that old plain leash for the past year!

Instantly, the dog sensed the firm tension of the leash and settled down. She pulled nervously before. She's 30 pound sturdy hound mix. In the first weeks, I left the tension on all the time. The dog started walking by me a lot. A lighter dog might be uncomfortable with so much pull on the neck. The tension means she's free. A few times she's bolted at a squirrel. The first time it was terrifying. I thought she was going to snap her neck. At first, I had trouble with the lock button -- thinking it was freezing up on me. You have to understand, if the dog wants to go ahead of you to sniff and you want to let it go do that, and you are trying to let the leash out to allow the dog space, the button will seem faulty because the leash won't unlock. That's a good thing. If the dog gives in just a bit and stops pulling, it will give you a second to release the tension. I love the flashlight. I treat the carefully--the plastic looks like it could break if you drop it. This is a big device to carry. Almost 7" by 7" at it's widest parts. The hand hold measures only 3 3/8". I keep a good eye that the tape doesn't get twisted. If it does, it gets caught in the dispenser and has to be carefully worked out. The best thing is my dog seems to actually like the control. Maybe it feels like attention to her. Love it.

After going through two leashes it has been confirmed, this type of leash cannot handle larger dogs. The front part of the leash broke again. Therefore, leash and gear are exposed. If you have a well-trained dog that does not get excited, then this is the perfect leash for you. If you have a high anxiety dog with a heavy pull force, then this is not the leash to purchase. I liked the leash handle, light and control/lock button. I just wish it was made with stronger material to withstand heavy pulling. Now I am on a search for a stronger leash to use.Leash did not hold up. Broke into pieces when my 73lb pup got excited.Update: After the leash broke I went back to see if I was still within the return window for the item. Unfortunately, the leash broke just outside of the time allowed to return. I gave my review so that others could understand what could possibly happen. Just a short time later the company contacted me to let me know they were sending me another one. They believe the item was defective. I was surprised and happy that they were willing to do that without me having to ask. I received the replacement after I had already bought another type of leash. The minute I opened the package, I was reminded of why I loved this type of leash in the first place. It is easier to handle, the control button works faster, and it has a light. Whether the replacement holds up or not, I have to say that the company went above and beyond to make me happy. That speaks volume! I truly appreciate their willingness to help make things right.

Replaces and older retractable leash that eventually would not retract any longer. So far, this product is perfect for the 74 lb. lab mix we walk several times a day. The light is especially helpful for when we take our two dogs outside at night and need to keep an eye on the older one that is not leashed.
