A Must Read for Faiz fans and those wanting to learn about him
Absolutely awesome and authentic book on Faiz by his grandson. Thoroughly enjoyed reading it and often found myself compelled to read on and couldn't put it down. Beautifully written and brings Faiz's poetry to life once you understand the context behind the much loved poems. A must read for any Faiz fan.

And while quite a lot in the book was known to me I learned many new things about Faiz Sahib for which I am thankful to Dr Hashmi with whom I share not just love for Faiz but the medical profession as well
Obviously I would have be an admirer of Faiz Sahib to read this book and no doubt I have read up on Faiz Sahib as a person and his work in considerable detail over the years and at times have tried to write about it as well. And while quite a lot in the book was known to me I learned many new things about Faiz Sahib for which I am thankful to Dr Hashmi with whom I share not just love for Faiz but the medical profession as well. There have been a few reviews of the book already and so I will not repeat the good parts which have been well highlighted by others but to do something different and in the hope that the author may read this review I will point out some errors in the book. The author has translated Faiz Sahib's Punjabi poem Raba Sachaya and the last line as, ''then I shall return and send another master (in your place)'' To my knowledge the last line is ''Feer mein jawaan tay Rub koi hoor loraan'' now loraan in Punjabi means to look for, so the translation which looks to fit in is ''Then I will go and look for another Master''The author does need to brush up on history, he narrates that Faiz Sahib passed away 10 days before Khwaja Khurshid Anwar while according to records Khwaja Sahib's date of death is 30th October 1984 and Faiz Sahib's 20th of November. On another page the author claims that the armies of ancient Persian empire found India irresistabel while actualy except for establishing a few border posts in Western most area of India the ancient Persians did not show any interest in this region and never launched a full scal invasion like they did into Anatolia and Greece. The author has also stated that Hitler and Masuleini revitalized the defeated nations of Germany and Italy after World War 1 but actually Italy was among the vitorious Alies in WW 1 and gained considerable terretory from Astro-Hungery in war settlement.Another error is to call General Akber Khan Cheif of Staff of Army, there was no post of Chief of staff till 1969 when AH Khan became the first, in 1972 the title was changed to Chief of Army Staff as it remains today. Major General Akbar Khan was Chief of General Staff, this post still exists.I would also comment that some of the information was repeated which could have been avoided or abreviated the scond time.Leavng asside these few flaws it remains an excellent book which I think is an essential reading for any lover of Faiz Sahib.
