Easy Install
This worked good for my application. Cable easy the fish through the wall. The only problem I had was the template was too small. I had to cut more after using the template.

Unique Solution
These are a unique and tidy solution for wall mounting a TV. The outlet can be installed upside down or right side up and is held in with two small screws. It uses a single gang box on the outlet side and the cable pass through side is open behind. The pass through side uses tabs to sandwich the drywall, similar to an old work box. I've installed two of these in our home - the first about 10 years ago, and have no complaints, except for maybe the price.

Clean look but needs improvement
I’ve used it before and it frustrates me that the are the same mold, I’m sure to save money. So when installed, the electric line and the open ports cross each other, sometimes making it difficult to fish up the wires. Saw a hack about using a sump pump hose to attach the open ports and it worked like a charm. Much easier to fish more wires at a later time.

Some issues, but very happy overall
I have hung many TVs over the years, and now that the pricing on power passthrough kits are coming down, I wanted to give it a shot. In the recent past, I used other kits that directly tie the power to the house power, which is cleaner to look at, but makes it harder to utilize an end-of-line surge protector (the outlets have been recessed, so the cube units don't fit. Instead you need to daisy chain a laptop/travel surge protector). So in a nutshell, this gives you more choices and the option to use larger/better surge protectors. This kit is nice in that it comes with everything that you need, and is built reasonably well. Installation is straightforward, and even includes a template for cutting out the drywall. There were a few issues that came up: the recessed power outlet for the television side made it difficult to use the flat-plug power cable that came with my LG TV, so I had to cut away some of the strain relief to get the cable to fit. Also, the outlet was upside-down in the upper outlet, and when removed and attached the correct way, restricts access to the power connections (see picture). This was fairly minor though and I was able to move past both issues. The end result was a clean install with about an hour of work (which includes hanging the TV). I will likely use this kit again next time.

Professional results
Excellent result - very professional looking. Install was straightforward and relatively easy; suggest you view the online video first to get an idea of what you need to do. Note: you need to supply the 14-2 Romex for inside the wall. Tip: Allow for the the extra dimensions of the plate cover. I used the template to cut my hole, but when I installed the outlet/cable opening plate, it was about 1/4 inch wider and was interfering with the wall mount frame for the TV. I just had to trim the plastic plate a little with a fine tooth saw and it fit perfectly. Also, don't over tighten the cable opening side of the plate - the little flanges that catch the drywall to hold it snug are not that strong and mine snapped off (the other screws held it securely, so no big deal). Very pleased with the final result and will use again.

Solid
I knew there were some compromises due to the fairly cheap price, namely that you need to go to the hardware store and purchase the Romex in-wall wiring on your own, so I will review this and take that into account as it does make the install harder. So, first step is using a stud finder to make sure that you avoid wall studs as they will be in the way. Once that's done, the instructions have a template you need to cut out. Grab that, take a pencil and mark where the outlets will go, grab your wall saw, and have at it. Run the Romex from one hole to the next but don't cut it yet. Now, note where the in-wall gang boxes will go and punch out a hole in each one (there are 4 "tabs" inside each one which can be broken off with a flathead screw driver) as this is where your Romex will go. Make sure you have a few inches of slack on the top Romex, carefully remove a few inches of outer sheath with a box knife and scissors, then use a wire stripper to expose about 0.75" of copper for the black and white wires. Thread that through the punch out on the top gang box and secure it to the wall with a screwdriver. Repeat the process with the Romex and bottom gang box.You want to be careful not to have too much slack on the Romex as it may make it hard to bend it and get everything to fit into the box; if this happens trim and re-strip the wiring as needed. Now, loop the black/white/ground wires and attach them to the corresponding screws of the top outlet. This is tricky as the wire can be hard to bend and you don't have a lot of slack to play with. The wires should be screwed down hard enough that they won't come loose when you push the wiring back into the wall box. Screw the faceplate and top outlet into place.Next, do the bottom outlet. Use the orange pigtails to tie the bottom outlet wiring together, taking care to match the colors. Once that's done, screw the faceplate to the wall, use the white extension cord to bridge the bottom outlet to your existing wall outlet, plug in your TV, and you should be good to go.Note: If you have HDMI or other in-wall cables, you'll want to run those before attaching the faceplates. Take care to include enough slack on the top that the cables don't fall back into the wall cavity because that portion of the faceplate is literally just a hole with no brushes or gaskets to prevent that from happening.I'm generally happy with this product, though I would have easily paid another $15-20 if they had included some pre-cut Romex, ideally pre-wired with a connector so I could just plug this together and avoid the extra trip to the hardware store, wire cutting/stripping, etc.If I have gripes there are a couple. First, the instructions are rather weak as they leave too much to be interpreted and do not include nearly enough photos. I installed the gang boxes first and then tried running the Romex, which was a huge mistake as the Romex got caught up on the gang box and the wall itself and made fishing it through a very painful process. Second, the portion for your HDMI and other cables are just holes. The manufacturer should change these to brush plates as they not only look better, but prevent wires from falling back into the wall cavity.I do think this is a little overpriced when you consider there isn't even a piece of Romex in the box, let alone some more robust, pre-cut wiring, but given the lack of choices right now it seems the manufacturer can justify what they are charging. If you want something similar that's way easier to install, slightly more expensive, and takes up only the space required by a standard outlet, you might want to buy one from PowerBridge instead.

excellent product
hello, installing this datacomm plug and outlet was fairly easy. we used a blue junction box behind the plug section. and the a/v wires all ran neatly into the opening. from the front side, the installation looked neat and clean. much better than a single hole in the drywall for all of the wires. the plug is behind the wall mounted tv and is very handy for the short power cord. the blue junction box did not come with the datacomm unit. great idea and product for the power cord and to route all of your a/v wires in the wall. very neat.

Great way to hide wires!
Let’s start this by saying, I found these to be so helpful that I bought another one when we moved homes. You will need to cut through drywall to install these two plates - but it’s worth it to hide unsightly cables. Plus, there’s no need to run a new electrical outlet with this version and that’s a plus! I’ve gone the route of installing an outlet behind the TV before finding these. It’s not all that difficult but this option is MUCH much easier.A couple notes:- you’ll need to supply your own 14/2 wire to run between the two plates. Most hardware stores sell small amounts of this common cable wiring.- this installation is considerably easier on interior walls since most are not insulated (making it easier to drop down wires). I’ve also installed these on exterior walls; it’s not impossible, but you’ll have to carefully slide your cables between the drywall and insulation while making sure you don’t puncture your plastic vapour barrier. Again, it’s 100% possible on an exterior wall, it just takes a little more care.If you found this review helpful, please consider hitting the “helpful” button below.

disappointed!
the opening where the tv cord actually plugs in is not long enough for a cord with a 90 degree type of plug check your tv and if the electrical plug is angled it most likely wont work, disappointed!

Great Product!
I like the product and very easy to install and instructuon was easy to follow. It looks very neat and professional installed, and hides all my power and all my cables behind the wall that connect from tv to receiver below. So you don't see any cables on the outside of wall.
