Wonderful Product to Enhance a Pellet Grill-Smoker
I really like the design and construction of this stick burner diffuser. In each of the two chambers I added 3 large lava rocks, then a wood chunk, followed by three more lava rocks, a wood chunk and finally capped off with three more lava rocks. I experienced some flame when the chunks caught fire about 1.5 hours into my 7 hour smoke (after I raised the grill temp from 225 to 250) but was able to prop open the lid about 2 inches (as recommended by Smoke Daddy) and the temp stayed stable. I may wrap the lava rock and chunks in foil next cook and perforate with some holes before stuffing in each chamber next cook. My two 3-lb. chuck roasts turned out beautiful and had that enhanced pecan wood smoke flavor. Thank you Smoke Daddy for an excellent product!

Works good, but pay attention to heat
Modified this to fit my Grilla Grills Silverbac grill and gave it its first run. Followed the instructions that said to start off the grill at 250-275 with the lid closed, which I did. Inside the diffuser was the wood that came with it, so it was pretty full. The wood quickly caught fire and brought the temps up well over 400 and climbing. Eventually was able to control the fire and bring it back down and shut everything down. Had I not, it might not have ended well. After that, I reached out to the company and they recommended using smaller chunks of wood and possibly add some lava rock inside. So, taking that guidance, that's just what I did. I mixed in some smaller chunks with some lava rock and that definitely kept the fire under control, while introducing quite a bit more smoke into the chamber. Once I got this thing modded to fit my grill and adjusted how I was adding wood, this thing really did the job I expected.

Well Constructed and Works As Advertised
I saw this was well-reviewed on amazingribs.com so I decided to give it a try.I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the build, not some made in China stamped cheap steel. It fit my big 'ol old school Traeger like it was designed for it. It should last as long as I'll ever need it.My first cook was a brisket and I used the wood that Smoke Daddy so kindly included in the shipment, I think it was either pecan or hickory. Anyhoo, it rolled thin blue smoke for about 3 1/2 hours and added a noticeably smokier profile to that big 'ol clod of meat. To me it worked better than advertised and I'm looking forward to many more cooks with it. Worth the investment and you'll only have to buy this once. Nice product, guys.Mike H.

It don't fit a pitboss #pb1150ps2
The smoke daddy did not fit my pitboss it is too tall and want let my heat sheal sit down on the grill and that cause the seats not to be installed properly

It's a gimmick
Unless your cooking 50lbs plus pounds of meat, this device can work but you will need to have a couple of them to swap out as they burn hot and fast. But you have to stay around to make sure it not all white smoke and account for the temp spike. , Just buy some of your fav chuck wood(I like peach) to Flavor with and add a Couple chunks on top of the heat plate. It's a perfect burn that way as the Pellets cycle to keep temp.. Without 50lbs, No matter their prescribed method, perfectly sized 2 wood chunks that fit in the slots, or the lava rock method, you will end up with a sooty product under 50lbs..if you walk away. As mentioned Best way is to just add a couple pieces of chunk on top, if you bought this device or the provided heat deflector. For the grill or the cabinet pellet smoker(I have) top between the drip pan. It creates the perfect blue smoke.

This thing is fantastic
I purchased a RecTec Pellet grill 2 years ago and, although I absolutely love the grill, it never quite gave me the smoke flavor that I think of when I used to use a stick burner. I tried smoke tubes, wood chips, you name it. I bought this last week after someone recommended it to me and it works really, really well. The wood inside burns clean blue smoke and it adds a nice woody flavor as opposed to that burned pellet taste. It was the best $100 or so I could have spent.

Temp control
Used on my traeger 575. Need to use smaller wood chunks and not logs. Temp is hard to control even with lid cracked open it cooks about 180 over selected temp. At this point I just put 2 smaller wood chunks in each and it adds a bit smoke flavor but not too noticeable.

I'm a believer
I read about the high temp swings, but haven't experienced it. Granted it does go about 30 degrees higher, but when your cooking on the smoke setting of 180, not that big of a difference as I am still below 250. Its like anything else, you have to know how your unit will respond and adjust from there. I haven't had to use lava rocks as I stuff it full of wood chunks. That tends to give me about 3 hours of the smoke that I am wanting. My only complaint is that my PitBoss Austin XL isn't really set up to be convenient to be able to add more wood through the cook, that's my problem to own though. This thing is built like a tank, will outlast my grill, that's for sure. Wood recommend!
