I got this to replace the original charcoal grate for my Char-Griller 5050. It fits well and I love the "porcelain coated" finish right out of the box, as well as the black handles (I haven't seen the chrome finish of my original handles in years thanks to creosote build up). Unfortunately, though despite showing a tray full of lump charcoal in the ads, it doesn't stand up to the high heat produced by premium lump charcoal. I've used it once. Just one time. After the first use with Fogo lump charcoal the area that the coals were sitting on, as well as the bottom of the pan (the side away from the heat) lost all of the coating and immediately rusted. The steel integrity doesn't seem to have been compromised, so I've scrubbed the rust off and applied a high heat automotive enamel to the whole unit to see if I can get a durable coating on it that will hold up to the charcoal I like to use. Like I said, it's a definite upgrade from stock, and I'd very much recommend it, particularly if you prefer briquettes. The steel doesn't warp like the stock pan will under high heat, but if your fuel of choice is a very hot burning source, don't expect the coating to survive even one use.

This replacement Ash Pan 27" tray is made with thicker sheet metal and bars than the one that came with my Char-Griller... The original part lasted well for more than 5 years, but this replacement is heavier duty so I am expecting it will last even longer and be less prone to sagging bars from.the intense heat of direct contact with the charcoal. An excellent quality purchase, but look out for special offers as the price varies wildly with the seasons!
