The illusion of security will not save you.
Very easy to install. Comes with a drill bit and a screw bit for installation. You will need a power drill. I have 3/4 hardwood floors on a plywood base. No issues with drilling with the provided bits. I did pull the quarter round trim from the base of the door. This allowed me to center the base plate and push it as close to the door as possible. By doing this this the door doesn't have to travel the extra 1/2 inch before making contact with the brace. My thoughts are if installed up against the base molding the door has to travel past the 1/2 thick molding before it makes contact with the brace. If this happens your door locks have already broken and the door frame and wood around the deadbolt and strike plate have been broken as well. Now, the brace will still work but now you have to basically replace your entire door and frame. I have French Doors so that is an expensive 1/2 inch of play. By cutting the quarter round trim at the base of the door and sliding the brace all the way up to the doors base the On Gard door brace is connecting with door while the deadbolt and door latch are still engaged with the door frame. Making this system stronger and possibly saving your wallet from more damage or complete door replacement if the worst happens. From a security standpoint French doors are the worst as there is no solid frame between the doors. They are extremely susceptible to forced entry. This system solves the frame strength issues but doesn't fix everything. Reinforce your strikeplates and install 3 inch screws in your hinges and strikeplates that go into the 2x4s behind your door frames. If you have glass in doors use security glass film that stops the glass from breaking out. None of these things will stop a determined attacker. They will give you those vital 15-30 seconds to get to your gun. Protect your family. Stop living with the illusion of security. If you are attaching the base to ceramic tile or concrete you will need a masonry bit and concrete anchors. The bits and screws that come with this kit are not meant for that installation but it can be done.

This Security Product Should be in every Home in the World
In the 80s if you had a problem with Ghosts- Who did you call? -Ghost Busters. Now, in modern times if we have a problem with Home Invaders- Who you gonna call? Home Invasion Busters!! Thank God for Global Security Experts-The makers of OnGard Security Door Brace that I do not do their marketing. But all kidding aside, I purchased their product, OnGard Security Door Brace, back in September, 2011 just shortly after our neighbors had a frightening experience of someone trying to enter their home. Fortunately, there was no entry made and no one was hurt. However, the threat was very real and this could happen anywhere in the world. After we purchased the OnGard brace, it gave us an instant peace of mind that it would buy us the critical time needed to react in case there was an attack. It's not about being tough or being paranoid- it's about not getting caught off guard. OnGard Security Door Brace very effectively does what it claims. It delays an attack by critical minute, giving you the valuable to time to call 911 and plan your escape or defense. I know that Amazon has a rating system of 5 stars and will all due respect to their rating, Ongard Security Door Brace is off their chart. You would need to double it to give it the correct praise it merits. I hope that we never need it, however, like they say: "It's better to have it and not need it, then to need it and not have it!" I fully recommend this product and am thankful to Global Security Experts for its invention.

Review of OnGard door guards
Well, I would have to say that it no doubt does what it is meant to do, after you get it installed. Therein lies the problem, at least for me. The installation video makes it look so very simple. And it would be if you had wooden floors that went as deep as the installation screws are long and had a door threshold that cleared at the top. I had neither for both doors which I used them for. On both doors the choice was very simple--cut the door or go into the slab to recess them far enough so the door would clear. Not an easy job. It required a concrete drill and a bit which would screw into the concrete. It also required a number of hours to do it. I would certainly not attempt it myself. Now, after it was all said and done, they work. There's no way that anyone is going to kick your door in with these things in front of it. They might totally destroy the door and the door facing but forget just giving the door a few swift kicks and getting it open. Not going to happen. So, your situation may vary but the installation for me and the man I paid to do the job was not any fun. Maybe you live in a house with a conventional foundation and the screws will go right through the floor, which I doubt. Keep this in mind.
