Great support and this device is true stereo
Like many buyers, I wanted to archive a stack of VHS and HI-8 tapes. I have tapes with stereo music that is important to me. Most of these capture devices mix the stereo (red & white rca's) to mono before it gets to the computer. I am in the US and we are NTSC TV. I have tested this device on MBP Mid 2018 (Intel) macOS Monterey using an Apple USB-C to USB-A adapter, on an HP Envy 15 Windows 10 22H2 and USB3 connections, on a MBP Mid 2015 macOS Mojave and USB3 connections, and on Boot Camp Win 10 on the MBP Mid 2015. Working on all. You can ask the seller for a link to the Windows USB driver. Windows opens up some things (manual settings and adjustments) that are not available on macOS.The kit comes with a 2 page, letter size, instruction sheet and a DVD. Like many, the instructions have the download link for the software. My download has the current USB video driver and several older versions, OBS Studio 28.03 for Intel and the M1/2, OBS 27.2.4 for pre-macOS 10.15, OBS 24.0.6 for even older macOS, VLC Media Player, Handbrake (a/v file tool), Burn (for DVD's), several readme files and a tutorial video to guide you through setup. If you do have problems, Tim, in support, is very responsive to email. There are also a couple of youtube video's about the kit.Everyone's tapes, tape players, other a/v sources, computer & OS (Win, Mac) and experience level is different. OBS Studio gives you everything you need to capture your video's to files. It is very powerful. The included instructions and tutorial guide you through the basics. You might want to watch a couple of youtube video's to get more details.Good luck with your captures!

Totally useless and frustrating besides
Appears to have been created in about 2014. Says it won't work if your computed is more than 8 years old (2006) (or too new either, judging by my results.). Multiple sets of instructions offered - with some info consistent but not identical. They seem to think the trickiest thing about all of this is hooking up red/yellow/white cables because they repeated this in painful detail in ever set of instructions. I did get one short VHS recording to play - I thought I was recording! Couldn't find the recording and couldn't get the same sequence of events to occur to try again. $50 isn't the end of the world but this package is total JUNK.

This works great but you have to make an adjustment on Macs
Followed instructions and no audio. Audio coming from output of VCR. Not getting to computer. Had to give app permission to use "microphone", even though it's a stereo line out from the VCR and that worked!!

It works and good customer service
I usually don't take time to write reviews, unless I'm very dissatisfied and want to warn others. This time it's a different story.I'm a professional video editor with many years experience so when a client asked me to transfer some old commercials from VHS review copies I immediately dreaded the project. I did not want to send this out of house for fear of loosing the only copies or having the tapes eaten in an old VHS player.I was surprised to discover an economical solution, Video-2-Mac Transfer Kit allowing me to control the quality, supervise and organize the transfer process myself. Plus I seem to have more and more request to transfer some old VHS.I'm using a MacBook Pro Mid 2015 model with MacOS Mojave ver 10.14.6, I installed software from DVD without problem and it's nice to know you can also install a downloadable version from their website. The only problem I had was by my own doing, during install you'll be asked to allow the software to access your Computer Microphone and I selected NO resulting in no audio being recorded. I sent an email to customer support expecting a long delay reply. Within 15-minutes I received a reply that instructed me to how to make sure the program had access to Mic as this setting also takes audio from USB, I did and it worked perfectly.Easy to use program with a few nice feature; Preferences to mute audio in background when working in different programs while still digitizing. Control over Video quality, Audio & Video Record Levels. Name allows a naming convention including unique name and consecutive #. Save Files to whatever drive/folder you want. There is also a Digitize Start/Stop Button on the RCA to USB cables so you don't need to use controls on the computer program.I found an excellent solution to my problem with more features than I expected and has great support.

A great video kit for Macs
The kit works fabulously. However, it wasn't trouble free. After viewing the video and reading and re-reading the directions, I sent a question in to the tech help. The help was not helpful. I had to figure the issue out on my own. Nonetheless, I can now take old VHS tapes and old DVD's and digitize them so that I can import them into iMovie and edit them from there. Very helpful kit, and worth the money!

Does not work
I watched a YouTube video that made it seem fairly easy to set up. But in reality it did not work at all and then their was a video that had too many steps to follow. I will be returning this equipment and I don’t recommend it.
