Q: Does it work in winter--will it take snow off our boots?

I love it. Use it every day to get mud, grass, whatever off my boots and shoes. Am going to purchase another one or two of them. Built solid, works great, does take snow off, no problem.

Q: how does it mount to the floor?

It has 4 mounting holes under the vinyl coverings on the base. They also offer an additional mounting plate which is 15" X9.5 inches which gives it enough support that it probably doesn't need to be mounted, mine isn't. You can even get the mounting plate personalized with engraving.

Q: How would you secure this to the ground?

Secure to a length of 2"x12" board at least one foot wider on each side than the Scrusher. This enables you to step on one side of the board while you clean your other foot. You can also attach a 1" threaded pipe base and 3' length of pipe to hold on to for balance.

Q: Why is it almost triple the price as the otter ones? What makes this one more expensive?

WELL IT IS MOUNTED HIGHER AND BRACED SO WILL NOT MOVE SIDE TO SIDE. I ALSO SUSPICION FOR INSURANCE COVERAGE THEY MADE IT SAFE TO USE. AND THAT COSTS.
