Made in the U.S.A. Only cost $3 more than the nearest Chinese version which had poorer quality according to reviews. I'm very happy with the value and build quality of this item. This is something I would be proud to pass on to someone after I leave this mortal coil.

This Huot drill index is okay for storing drill bits. I have a different Huot index which I use daily that I believe is superior since the cover hinges from the rear and the 3 individual bit holders rise up smoothly as the cover is lifted. Smaller bits are in the front - larger in the rear, making all the bits easily accessible. This index being reviewed doesn't have that feature. The arrangement of bits in this index places the larger sizes in front and the smallest in the back. When the individual indexes are raised, accessibility to small size bits is difficult because they are lower than those in the front, making you want to turn the index around 180 degrees to access the smaller bits. The lid does open from the right side, it is fabricated in the USA from 22 gauge steel and is well made. The cover can be removed if so desired, but may be difficult to reinstall. Each index has easy to read drill sizes adjacent to each bit, plus it has tap drill sizes embossed in the front index for 1/4, 5/16, 3/8, 7/16 and 1/2 in both coarse and fine thread patterns.

Works as advertised and designed to do

I received a Huot 10550 29 piece drill index. Very happy about that since Huot is a shop standard index manufacturer. My Fisch 29 piece 1/16th to 1/2 brad point bit set fit perfectly. I added a strip of 1/8th thick rubber type material to the interior top of the index to protect the bit points. I am pleased with this product and highly recommend it.
