Somewhat informative but not engaging
This is my first 3 star review as I typically really try to give a book the benefit of the doubt but I was left feeling truly lacking after reading this book.It was actually somewhat difficult to finish reading and there were many times throughout the book where I really had little motivation to continue reading the book.Perhaps maybe because this book was written by both Leigh and Phillip Hurley was an explanation for why the material was so dry and sterile. There was absolutely no character and the essence of the book felt rather hollow. There were some moments going into the illusion of Maya, and other philosophical aspects where the reading was somewhat engaging, but then it felt as if the chapters were independent of eachother and there was no ryme or reason as to the order. There was overkill with exactly how to do the ritual, but it failed to explain why certain things represented what they did. The book talked about such an awesome phenomenon with very little other than "try it to see for yourself". The book also fell short to explain the significance of anything. It seemed more like a "hey, this is what you do if you're interested in Tantra, and this is when you do it, just don't ask me why anyone would want to do it".My personal feeling is it seems one or the other should have wrote the book the way they wanted to. I give them a lot of credit for trying though. I could tell they have valuable information, it just wasn't fully tapped in this book for some reason. The reason why I didn't give it a two star rating is because I do not have a strong background in Tantra. I was hoping this book would help inspire me a little more, but left me completely let down. Perhaps someone more advanced in Tantra may find this book more beneficial. To help you understand where my perspective comes from to help you decide if you should read this book based on my review; is that I am familiar with the LHP and various esoteric philosophies on Magick. I thought this might be a nice opportunity to venture more into Tantra while also supplementing my esoteric learning. Sadly there was only several paragraphs that fulfilled this need, although the information provided was very interesting and will help provide me with an alternative perspective. To summarize, I'm not sure who this book is tailored for, but IMHO it is neither entry level Tantra nor is it meant for deeper esoteric study. But don't take my word for it 😉 read it for yourself.

This poor guy doesn't get enough reviews
This poor guy doesn't get enough reviews. It's a great book, accessible to newcomers.. I'm a tantra fanatic, and there was some brand-new information in here that I had never seen before. He writes from an authentic tantric perspective- unpolluted by new age B.S. although he does mix in some 'taoist' and other terminology that, in my opinion, isn't exactly the rhetoric of a tantrika.Whatever - it's a great treatise non-the-less that I recommend for those interested vamamarga. It's not written in Oxford English, but the writing is nonetheless very good and has a well-developed style.P.S. I can tell the author has read Svoboda's work on the subject.. His perspective is very 'svobodayan'. That's cool, because myself and probably most other westerners who like 'the left hand path' read svobodha's Aghora trilogy.

Overall limited info on the "left-hand path"
I'm a little torn apart. First of all, the book does not really reveal too much information about the tantric "left-hand path" (vamamarg) as it promises. The ritual of sexual intercourse is only touched upon superficially. Hence, the title is, well, over-promising.Second, as with many non-scientific authors (Eastern and Western alike) various systems that originally had little or nothing to do with each other are put next to each other. I am personally quite skeptical when shallow explanations of quantum physics are mixed with daoism, tantra, Western magick and Leonardo DaVinci. On the positive side, the book contains a yogic rather safe chakra meditation that actually works, and - big bonus point - explicitly mentions astrology in the context of tantra, which is a subject rarely spoken of.All in all neither the worst nor the best book on the market, just don't expect that after reading it you're prepared to start a tantric practice on your own.
