Q: Could this be used for hockey practice to practice shots on goal in a garage?

Could be tough but doable. The net hangs a bit above the garage floor when my garage is fully open. So shots that aren't elevated could slip through. Possibly fixed by lowering the garage door some and putting some heavier items in the basket at the bottom. I'd say worth a try.

No issue to hit dense foam golf balls into the snap. I’ve hit regular golf balls but this net is used primarily for practicing disc golf form through the winter. It works awesome.

Q: how does the net connect to the bottom of the garage door? I don't see anywhere on the door where it can attach.

It’s not made to attach to the bottom of the garage door. There is a tent like pole that goes in the bottom of the net which keeps it spread out and it does add a little bit of weight at the bottom but not much. I actually use this net in my basement and placed a couple flat weights at the bottom. Works great. I should point out that if you are planning on using this in your garage, using the garage door to fasten it to, the garage door must be open. If not, anything you throw acid that will just get the garage door leaving the net obsolete. Hope this helps!

Q: Can you attach to a cable, or rope, between 2 poles?

It works. I attached it between two trees and it worked well.
