Perfect for Beginners - lovely results.
The media could not be loaded. I wasn’t aware there was such a process as drying flowers in Silica Gel, I thought the only way to preserve flowers was to press them or hang them up to air dry. Also Silica is not a gel, it is crystals, similar to caster sugar.* Instructions were provided, but I watched a couple of YouTube videos as I learn better watching rather than reading something.* The Silica gel dries the flowers by absorbing the moisture in them, in a few days the flowers shape and colour was preserved.* Every few days I checked progress, some flowers dried quicker than others, dependant on the type of flower and size.* The Silica gel can be used and reused - it turns green when moisture has been absorbed, the gel can then be dried out by placing it in the oven / microwave.* Safety First - I wore gloves, mask and glasses.* I found this 5lb bundle was not sufficient to dry the number of flowers I had, so I purchased some more Silica and another air tight container.* The video shows flowers dried in Silica, which turned out similar to delicate silk flowers.* The photo shows air dried flowers, which look quite dried up and crunchy.I am happy with the purchase, ideal for a beginner and a competitive price.I would recommend trying Silica Gel as I feel the resultant colour, shape and feel of the flowers is far superior to those I air dried.

Worked for me ….
Bought to preserve my daughter’s wedding flowers. It was my first attempt at using this type of product. You will need large airtight containers (and won’t be able to use them for food after).I left them in for 7 days and it worked really well.Tips: Make sure all flowers are fully covered or exposed edges with go brown. If preserving a delicate flower put it face down and spread the petals. It’s easy to flatten the entire flower if you lay them on their sides.Watch as many tutorials online as possible.Very happy with this product. It was a good amount. I did a selection of flowers in 4 boxes (one very large, three medium) and still had some left over.

Beware of leaky bag!
I have ordered silica gel for drying flowers before, but tried this brand as it seemed a very good price. It was delivered as requested and arrived a couple of hours ago. There was no packaging, the address label was stuck to the red bag. I tore the top off to expose the zip seal, unzipped and inside was another bag holding the silica. I was ready to use immediately and cut the corner from the inner bag but when I lifted it to pour, fine silica came gushing through a hole in the bottom of the bag all over the work surface and floor, and the red outer bag was inches deep in leaked product.I am sure there will be no problem - silica gel is silica gel and there was no colour change to the leaked product. A ziplock bag and dustpan and brush soon sorted things. However, this is just a warning to take great care in case other bags are split like mine!

Only 5 days to fully dry the flower - perfect results!
Never dried flowers using this product before, but I was pleasantly surprised with the results after just 5 days! The flower remained intact but obviously delicate after drying, and the the flower remained a vibrant yellow with the coloured red speckles still visible. Will definitely be using this for future projects.

Decent Drying Dessicant
I use this for drying out trout flies that have become waterlogged of covered in fish slime. Much cheaper than a dedicated dessicant powder!
