Graet Chip, but cheap CPU Cooler fan may be a weak link.
Great Chip, runs super cool, and provides all the power needed for most home systems.Yet part of the value of the non k chip is getting a free CPU cooler. Of course, if the cheap fan included turns out to be noisy, and, in my experience, all too often does, then it’s not quite such a good deal. After only a few days, the fan in my system started to make noise, and no amount of playing with fan speed setting made any difference. I was about to replace the cooler with my favorite Noctua, but happened to have a Low-Noise Adaptor that comes free with the Noctua NF-F12 PWM Cooling Fan I bought for a different system, and decided to try that first. It worked, and it’s now dead silent again, and otherwise working perfectly.

high performance processor especially when coupled with a good video card
I admit I have a need for speed when it comes to computer processors. Probably because I started out with an Intel Celeron processor. It did not take me long to realize that I needed something with a little more processing power without a huge price tag, and a large demand for power. Hence I did some research and found that the Intel Core i5-6600 Skylake Quad-Core 3.3 GHz Desktop Processor was a very affordable, low wattage, stable, high performance processor especially when coupled with a good video card. My wife has loved the way the computer moves from screen to screen, and the way it moves from application to application. Really happy with the i5, the video card, and the computer in general. All of the parts were purchased from Amazon and assembled by a top notch technician.

Great Cpu, not so great cooler.
Very powerful for the price you pay, my only complaint is the cpu cooler is very low end, and if your going to be doing any editing on this, you will need to pick up an after market cpu cooler. but besides that, I love it!

) It was crazy easy to install the CPU and the fan
I will never, ever go back to AMD again. Intel has definitely sold me with this processor. It's a high end i5, and it does come with a stock fan. I've seen multiple reviewers recommending to upgrade the fan and personally, I don't think it's necessary. The fan works perfectly for me, keeping the temperature around 34C when "working" it. And by "working" it, I had about 65 google chrome tabs open, 30 firefox tabs, 8 apps, 3 movies streaming, a skype call running. It was a slight experiment :,)It was crazy easy to install the CPU and the fan. Intel nailed it with the "easy" factor.

Bad luck out of the box.
After months of back and forth with the motherboard manufacturer and repeatedly send it in for verification, ruling out all other possible issues, and finally retreating the system as basic as possible with a new operating system and new hard drive. It leaves only the processor to be bad straight out of the box, sending an unstable voltage and causing window to go into a whea_uncorrectable error.Of course it has taken too long to come to this conclusion for me to be able to return the defective product.

I was torn between this processor and an I7. ...
I was torn between this processor and an I7. I believe I made the correct choice. This thing is fast. Crazy fast. I understand that the I-7 can hyper thread and run 8 strings as opposed to 4 but in reality it is overkill. I have not run anything on this processor that even remotely taxes it including conversion of videos and gaming. I added an aftermarket cooler and it runs slightly over room temperature most of the time. Unless you are working on 200 page excel spread sheets involving multiple integer formulas then this processor is the one for you. Even if you are doing video conversions this processor is fast enough. So in conclusion if you are sitting on the fence between a I7 and an I5 this is the way to go. Just make sure you buy a quality cooler and this thing will be silent.

Purchased used and product arrived faulty.
This was my first time building a PC and I had a budget of around $500.Parts list:CPU: Intel i5 6600Motherboard: MSI B250 PC MateRAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 8gb 1x8gbHDD: WD Blue 1tb 7200rpmGPU: Nvidia GTX 770 (Reused from old PC)PSU: Corsair CX750m 80+ (Reused from old PC)I decided to purchase the CPU used from Amazon Warehouse Deals because I didn't have enough for a new one. The CPU arrived and i installed it in my PC and the PC booted but it would freeze when I tried to install an operating system. I did a lot of troubleshooting and got a replacement for the RAM. That didn't work so I got a replacement motherboard. That didn't work. I tested the hard drive in another computer to make sure it was working. The only thing left to cause the problem was the CPU.Do NOT buy used CPUs!I am returning the used CPU for a full refund and I am going to purchase another NEW CPU.

Is the high cpu usage normal?
i got high cpu usage (around 80-100%) while i watching 1080p video or watching youtube while i gaming. This is even horrible than my old one i7 950. At least, it wont lagging when i try to play game and watch video at the same time.
