Good hammer to own.
Good hammer, solid, lightweight, priced right, and above all is made in the USA.

Perfect for Climbing and framing.
I purchased this hammer for myself after getting addicted to nail starters. I had not owned one before i purchased a Kobalt 19oz framing hammer. It was $20 and the price was right. The handle was polished a slick finish and without some kind of sanding it would slip out of your hands. I solved that issue with some 80 gritt, and it was and still is a solid framing hammer. I got this Vaughn for use in my second work area. I use this hammer while climbing up a 98ft roller coaster to sink 2x6's across uprights for general maintenance work everyday, and it hasn't failed yet. The 19 is perfect for being lightweight and easy to carry around, which is a necessity for keeping it attached to my harness D-rings while I climb up 2x6's and 4x4's up to my work area. The Kobalt works well too, but is too heavy and the handle is too large to take off my D-rings (an isolated problem probably). I know it's a very small breed of carpenters that work on wooden roller coasters, or do climbing of that height, but if you do, this 19oz is pretty perfect for it. The nail holder is a must for reaching out to beams I don't want to climb on and setting nails. Sometimes you can't get both hands off the structure when you're standing on a 2inch wide beam 80feet up in the air -if you know what I mean. It's going to take a few more whacks to get a nail in, but if you're going to have this hammer attached to you all day, you'll appreciate how lightweight it is. Oh yeah, and the blue is cool too.

Very Nice Hammer -
Great design, the axe style handle really helps to generate power. Finish work on the hammer head was good, but not super, but then again it's a less than $30 hammer. The blue finish was great, the silver polishing of the sides a little rough but not horrible, my Estwing and Stanley stuff a bit better. The waffle face is decent. The magnet nail starter is well fitted. The handle was fine, well fitted with good grain.19ozs feels right, neither too heavy nor too light. For those that have never handled one, be aware it is a long hammer.

Absolutely the Best Decking hammer there is ! Bar None
Being a 68 year old now retired 52 year Journeyman Carpenter, I have never been without at least one of these. Always have a backup ! As long as you get one that is properly balanced, these are 16 penny driving machines, that won't kill your elbow. I now have 3 , 2 used. and now a brand new one, which at My age, I'll never get My monies worth out of it. But I will gladly pass all 3 onto My highly skilled Daughter, and not so hands on Son [ musician ] . I own Diablos, Harts, Dead On"s , and still would rather use this hammer at one 5th the cost of the other. And no annoying ping when striking 16 penny nails. Do Yourself a favor, buy several at this price, and learn how to swing it !!
