Not just marshmallow
This has more than just marshmallow, I use for tobacco alternative and keep going into bad coughing fits with this one. When not coughing it's a good smoke.

A spoonful of honey improves the taste
This is a large 1 kilo bag of marshmallow leaves, packed in a strong plastic bag. To make a tea one only needs a moderately heaped teaspoonful, so this generous quantity in the bag will last a long time. Examining the visual quality of the contents, one sees there are some very small twigs in the mixture of marshmallow flowers and leaves, but the few twigs present can easily be picked out and removed by hand if required.Marshmallow (Althea Officinalis) is a natural herb which has many uses, mainly as a tea, but also as a medicinal treatment for coughs and sore throats, producing a gooey demulcent that contains muco-polysaccharides for the treatment of skin and digestive conditions. As a herbal tea it is advisable to drink no more than two cups per day for four weeks, then to have a break for a week or so, to avoid any potential reaction problems. On the negative side, it can increase the amount of lithium in the body as well as reducing blood sugar levels, so it is probably better to stir in a spoonful or two of sugar or honey if drinking it as a tea. This improves the taste as well.I experimented with it, brewing it (1) with cold water allowed to steep for 8 hours, after which time it had thickened. (2) with room temperature water for 6 hours when it similarly thickened. (3) with hot water infused for 5 minutes which seemed to destroy the mucilage and medicinal properties. I concluded that slowly infusing it with cool water was the best method to preserve all its benefits. The problem was that this took a lot of time before one could drink it, or apply it.I can’t say I liked the taste or aroma. It was too herbally for me, too sweetly woody and had a slightly tobacco aroma, which lasted as an after-taste in the mouth and nostrils for several hours. I guess it could be used as a cheap herbal tobacco, but personally I would not do so. Curiously, it does have a smell slightly resembling old socks, but perhaps I am being rather unkind? I think the smell and taste would mainly appeal to someone who valued its medicinal and health properties more than its pleasurable values. It is very unlike the sweet herbal teas which are common today.Using it as an anti-inflammatory for swollen legs didn’t seem to work, at least after trying it for a few days, so some of the health benefits may be over-stated? A longer scientific trial would be needed to decide how effective it is for medicinal treatments. Nevertheless, I found it an interesting herb to try.
