Q: Whats the tip diameter on the 5 inch set? I already have the 7 inch set and they work great for 1"-3" rings. But tip is to big for .5" and .75" rings

The tip size is probably the same as your 7 inch. I couldn't use mine on smaller rings.

Q: how wide can the external tips get to? so far the other pliers i've found do not open wide enough.

My dear customer, I measured it, and the 7-inch Straight External Plier can be opened up to 1.57 inches. The 7-inch Bent External Plier can be opened up to 1.38 inches. The 9-inch Straight External Plier can be opened up to 1.65 inches. The 9-inch Bent External Plier can be opened up to 1.38 inches. The 13-inch Straight External Plier can be opened up to 2.17 inches. The 13-inch Bent External Plier can open up to 1.81 inches. This is measured by me manually, I hope it can help you, thanks again for your attention!
