Q: I currently have the sony WF-1000xm4 and was wondering how these compared to those in terms of sound quality only. As well as connectivity?

I have owned both and feel the FW5 is better in my opinion. However that is just my opinion. It has deeper basses, more dynamically expressive in tonal balance. The FW5 is tuned by not only using the internal SOC chip but also using actual iem traditional tuning methods within the housing itself. It really is a very nice sounding set. I didn't like the Sony as much and ended up getting rid of them but it all comes down to what you are after. That said, as far as sound quality is concerned I think the FW5 is much better.

Q: Does playback auto-pause when you remove a headphone from one ear (while the other one remains inserted)?

Do not worry about it. This thing is junk had to return mine. Sound is OK but build quality is horrible. Spend the extra money and get Sony or Sennheiser momentum 3 you will be glad you did.

This is junk no comparison Sony is way better then these. If you buy these remember you were warned.
