Quieter, at Least for Now
Why did you pick this product vs others?:I bought the Flamorrow drip cushion hoping to eliminate the annoying drip sound of water falling onto my AC unit. It does cushion the sound somewhat — the loud plink-plink is definitely softer now, which is a relief during quiet evenings and WFH daysFit:Had to cut the sheet to better fit the unit

Better than most others, but smaller in size.
I have been using these pads for many years on our window A/C to muffle the sounds of rain/water dripping on the top of the unit. It is amazing how loud it can be as the open interior of the unit magnifies the sound. Makes it hard to sleep at night when raining. This cushion is typical of what you get. A foam rubber pad glued to a thin magnetic sheet. Name brand pads I have had in the past have weak magnetism, and the magnetic sheet pulls off the foam quite easily (more on this later). This Flamorrow pad comes with 2 pieces, which is nice if you have a smaller A/C unit. For my use, the width was perfect, but they is about 2 inches short on length. I had the choice of either leaving it short, or using both pads and cutting them to fit side-by-side. I felt cutting them would be a waste of a lot of the material, so I chose to just leave it a little short. I hope since it is on the ends, the noise level won't be excessive, I have to wait for some rain to find out. I didn't cut the pads up to save on waste, but also so I have another pad to use next year. Generally, these cushions only last one summer, and have to be discarded. If they are exposed to the sun, the foam deteriorates and falls apart. If in the shade, they get quite nasty with mold/mildew and accumulated grime and gunk. I have found no way to clean them for reuse, so they end up in the trash. As is typical, the magnetism is quite weak with these pads as well. Not a huge issue for me as I have storm windows that I can lower onto the inside edge of the pad to help hold it in place. If you are counting on just the magnet to hold it in a wind storm, I don't think it will hold and the wind will probably blow it off. I do want to mention though that the magnetic pad is glued to the foam very well. Usually, the foam is already separating from the magnet when you open the package. With these cushions, you need to pull with a little force to pull the foam off the magnet. Kudos for that. While I have seen people place these on their A/C and cover the grill openings on the top, I hesitate to do so. The openings are there for air flow, and I feel the unit will not operate as designed, and it may even shorten it's life expectancy. Therefore, you need to cut the cushion to accommodate the opening(s). To be honest, that is the most difficult part of the process as cutting through the foam and magnet cleanly and accurately, is a pain. I've tried a razor knife and scissors, and neither do a great job. Luckily it is on the top where you don't really see it anyway. Also, this is applicable to all these types of pads, not just this one. This is a good buy at $20, as most others I have bought in the past were around $25 for just one pad (albeit a slightly larger pad). You get 2 pads in this package, which if you can use one a year, saves you a good bit of $$. Even if you have to use both of them on a larger unit, you still save a couple of bucks. If these pads were just a couple of inches longer, and the magnet was better, these would get a 5 star rating.

Disappointed Customer
A Big gust of wind blew it off the top of the AC. Didn’t realize it until days later. Needless to say the magnetic backing is not strong enough to withstand high speed winds.
