Shouldn't be called a pomade
I've used 2 kinds of Baxters pomade, the wax and cream. So far the cream is the best and the wax isn't bad just a little much and is hard to get off of stuff. This doesn't hold at all though and is so grainy you can see it in your hair. Really disappointed in it.

Great quality normal product for "Ethnic Hair"
I love it. It’s perfect and “normal” pomade for my son’s African American hair. Smells great and easy to work with on his tight curls. I just work a bit into my fingers tips and apply closest to the scalp. Great sheen and keeps hair moisturized. If you don’t have African American hair, this wasn’t for you. I love to see more Baxter products tailored to ethnic hair and skin.

Use Very Little, Be Sure to Warm This in Your Hands, Go Slowly ...
This arrives in a nice little jar. The lid is on super, super well. I had to use a little rubber "grippy" mat just to get this off. To me, this is a great sign this that is a pristine, clean product. So nice! This has a bare discernable scent (which is great). Now, pomades are really intense ... so, go slowly with this. Take a really, really small amount. Put this in your palm. Now, work your palms together. This is going to warm and emulsify the product. Keep rubbing your palms until it feels uniformly warm. If it is coating your palms and fingers, you've done this right! Then, start by slowly working this into your hair. Just using your fingers, begin to play. If you need to rinse off the rest, cool. But, do not overapply.Even after you wash and dry your hands, you can continue to work this. This is a slight learning curve, but this is such a nice product. Just take your time. You can't rush this one.Bring your patience. Give it a try. The pay off is really impressive!

Gritty w residue
This product was very gritty and rubbing it together did not help very much and it left residue in hair. I understand that Baxter has reported on their site that it was a bad batch of product.

Oils for days
The amount of oils in this pomade is astounding, if that's what you're looking for. However, this prevents the pomade from providing even a light-medium hold, which I usually use and works great to hold hair for most of not all of the day. This does have a ton of shine to it, as expected from the amount of oils used. However, this is tough to get out of your hair at the end of the day. I have to shampoo each time I've used it just to get it out.

Not a fan.
I got this for my son who uses pomade regularly. I also tried this on my own hair when he said he didn't like it.It doesn't really have a scent. It's very thick. I had to scoop out a chunk with my finger and try to spread it on my hands first. It left chunks on my hand and also was very greasy.I applied it to my hair and it did give it a nice shine but it also made my hair feel greasy. It keeps frizz to a minimum but also makes my hair feel a bit stiff.Overall, I would not choose this item again.

No hold
Grainy, greasy, and doesn’t hold at all. There’s absolutely no hold to this, and while it does well on curls I really don’t think this could be classified as a pomade. You can kinda structure hair a little with it but even a light breeze would bring everything out of place. Pretty greasy, even beyond what I was expecting with it being a shea forward product, it just leaves hair looking wet and grainy. I’m not even sure what to classify this as, but there’s just nothing pomade about it. Almost zero functionality for the type of product it claims to be, so 1 star.

my new favorite
This pomade became my favorite for a few reasons. When I first saw it I thought it's a small container, and indeed it is, but that is because it goes a long way, you really don't need much of this pomade to hold hair, it spreads more than other I've tried. Many people say is gritty or grainy and yes, that is true, but as the instructions say, you have to rub this pomade on your hands before application, I believe the grainy texture of this pomade is why it goes a long way. With that said, this is my favorite pomade because it provides a light hold that looks natural without making the hair crusty, it holds for my up wild spike hair so its good and make it slightly shine. One thing i do different than instructions is that I apply it on wet hair instead of dry as indicated. I found better results on wet hair.
