To do the conversation it's equal parts water to powder.I pour the water into the powder and use less water, can always add more if needed. But wet the mold as directed and these come out great. I did coat with a base white first to soak the paint into the plaster. Then me and my son used acrylic paint markers to paint the molds after they dry. Which only takes about an hour. I got this set for me as an adult but my 6 year old also loved it and helped me create molds and painted himself. They are a bit detailed on a few but some of the more kid friendly molds were easy to color.Only pet peeve is the box got delivered as is.

The mix/molds is really easy to use. Details turned out great. Just couldn’t paint on them successfully. Details are too small. If you are hoping to paint one color, I would buy this product.

First of all, the kit makes some really cute shapes kids can paint. Older kids will find this kit a lot of fun because the process is more than just pulling out a molded figure and painting it. That's where the positives end for me.Here's the rest:The mixing and molding of the figures is messy, requires an adult, takes a lot of time and patience, and the ratio of gypsum to water can be a touch tricky. I found an 8 year old loving the mixing and mess making of making the molded figures but then getting frustrated and bored while they dried. For round two of this kit I made one ahead so he could paint and then he started the kit process so I could give him a figure while the molded figures he made dried. Much better solution but incredible time consumption and double mess time.I cannot fault the kit for having us make the figures because it's in the description and it's on the package before we buy it. I deducted a start because the mold making seems misleading about the amount of adult work vs. kid ability and the time to dry, which creates some seriously frustrated kids unless they are the super patient type. This is more of a family project for a rainy day. While they are drying just know you'll need a time filler for most kids.
