Great shocks, but the biggest difference will be in replacing the front shocks.
Bilstein 5100s are probably the best buy shocks for the average consumer. The front shocks made a night and day difference from the stock ones. You should know that changing the rear shocks on your truck won't make as huge an impact as changing the front ones do though. What's a quick test to see if your front shocks need to be replaced? Go over a speed bump. If your vehicle rocks left and right somewhat violently as you go over, it's time for new shocks.Shocks are one of the most simple tasks to do on a truck. You don't even need to jack up the truck if you have enough room to slide underneath. For a 2006 Silverado, you'll need two ratchets. One ratchet to hold the bolt head and one ratchet to unscrew the nut off the bolt. Take the bottom and top bolt off (2 bolts total) and pull the shock out. Replace with the new shock and put grease or anti seize on your bolts you took off. Put the bolts back on and tighten with your ratchet until it's snug. You can also tighten with a torque wrench set for the appropriate setting for your vehicle (probably 60+ ftlbs without anti seize, less ftlbs with anti seize). DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN.So reminder. Use anti seize on the bolts and do not over tighten the bolts. If your bolts are severely corroded and you need new ones, your best bet is to go to a specialty fastener store that mostly just sells bolts, nuts, etc. Vehicles usually use a certain grade steel (10.9) and size (usually metric such as m14) for the bolts that you may not be able to get at Home Depot/Lowes/Auto parts store. Your other option is trying the dealership for the bolts.

Would buy again
I debated on what to buy and these were a definite upgrade from Rough Country NO2s. Easy to install. It did not come with hardware. I still have my Rough Country leveling kit

‘07 GMC 3500 Classic Dually
Waited to write a review, I’ve put about 20k of hard use on the shocks. ‘07 GMC Sierra 3500 Classic SLT crew cab dually long box diesel. Stock rear height, torsion bars turned up, slightly bigger than stock tires. The truck is used for auto transport and have no complaints on the shocks. Ran Bilstein’s on my Saab 9-5 and have a Bilstein/air bag setup on my Audi wagon and those shocks have been amazing so I decided to try these for my work truck. Due to “Betty’s” basically stock height the shocks were a pain in the butt to compress but they went into place with some persuasion. All shocks were installed in the driveway, no hoist. Betty spends all day, 5-6 days a week, pulling a 5k lb trailer with 2 vehicles on it on our awful Wisconsin highways and the ride is so much better than the Rancho’s that got tossed out. I’m happy with them and hope they last a long time.

Worth the money
Direct bolt on replacement for my original shocks that were really shot after 130,000 miles. Considered the OEM Bilsteins but these got such great reviews that it really swayed my decision. These are very expensive but it was worth every penny. Initially felt slightly stiff but either I'm getting used to them or they are loosening up slightly. These really restored my ride quality. I've hit some potholes hard that I couldn't dodge and these really do a wonderful job dampening. General highway driving I would say that the ride was firm but not harsh. Going into bends these help keep the truck level. Braking dive changed drastically for the better. Overall money well spent. Even the guys at the local garage had a good time making fun of them. "Hey look at the truck with the chrome bilsteins!" Although they are actually a brushed aluminum housing they do look good. Thanks Amazon!

Replaced rear shocks on 2007 Silverado 2500HD 6.0L LT (no lift)
We bought the Bilstein (24-186742) shock absorber to replace the original rear shocks on a 2007 Silverado 2500HD 6.0L LT (no lift). Amazon's fitment check reported it did not fit our vehicle. The Bilstein website confirmed this was the right part number. This Bilstein shock matched the uncompressed length of the OEM shock. Remove & replace was easy without having to jack the truck. Only needed a floor jack to slightly compress the new shock a few inches to fit into the truck's lower holder. Most of our driving is city with some travel trailer towing 5-6 times a year. We were immediately pleased with the improved ride handling and performance in city driving. We're sure the towing performance will also be good. We have used this product for 3 days since installed in August 2016.

You have to try these shocks
Hey guys. I have a 2008 GMC Sierra 2500 Duramax that I just installed these 5100's on. 2 years ago I replaced my shocks with heavy duty Napa shocks. 3 out of the 4 have failed since. I am no mechanic but, once I installed these Bilstein shocks, my truck drives like a car (not really, just way smoother). I have read a lot of reviews about these and they are as described so far. They are sturdy and took me about an hour to replace all 4. I have only had them on the truck for a week so I will let you know if anything gets better or worse.
