How temporary are the results after one wash?

It depends on how long you leave it on and what color your hair was to start. If you have light or white hair it shows up better. Dark hair it just tones. When I put it on for 10 to 15 minutes it fades pretty quickly. With my white/grey/brown hair (I'm 68) I leave it on for 30 minutes. It is bright purple for the first wash or two, and then fades over the next 6 weeks until the color hardly shows, and then I repeat. For the first week or so, when I wash and rinse my hair some color rinses out. And as other reviews state, it stains what it touches, including grout and an acrylic tub/sink. Comet cleanser or other bleached based cleaners are your friend.

Will this work without bleaching?

It will tint but works way better with bleaching

Will this work on dark hair?

I have super cooldark brown hair I bleached high lights then dyed them purple. If I use this will it make purple more purple and not so much the almost black? I just wanted to maintain low lights????

Can I use this to maintain semi permanent dyes?

Yes! A bright color dye like red, pink or purple will wash out in about a month. However using this shampoo you can maintain that color as long as you use it! It will continue to renew the color keeping it vibrant. It will not however cover roots as they grow out like dye.
