If you loved him as a child, you will be thrilled as an adult: the magic continues
I recommend getting this set of books either as a gift for yourself or gift for another. They are inexpensive enough and will yield years of reading and rereading. Roald Dahl is a master story teller, talented wordsmith and keen observer of human nature. These short stories are wonderful literary art that will thrill the reader with bite size morels. The size of the book is conveniently sized to slip into a pocket, purse or bag for some entertaining reading on the go but not too small to keep on the night stand for just-one-more-read before sleep.

All of Roald Dahl’s Short Stories plus “Boy”, “Going Solo” and “Roald Dahl’s Ghost Stories
This is the best option for getting ALL 58 of Roald Dahl’s short stories. Three of the stories are printed twice here across the 8 books (Mrs. Bixby and the Colonel’s Coat, The Landlady & The Visitor). But you get all 58 published short stories. Plus you also get “Boy” and “Going Solo”, which are two extra standalone books included. Additionally you get in “Fear” Roald Dahl’s Ghost Stories, which is also a standalone book. (He didn’t write the stories but he curated this collection of ghost stories.)So you get all 58 short stories he ever published, plus three extra standalone books included. Fantastic value. The only gripe and it’s very slight is the size of the books. They’re the smaller Penguin size, which is not amazing, but the tradeoff is that they’re thicker paper than the other two collected short stories of Roald Dahl Vol 1 & Vol 2, also by Penguin. So I’d prefer thicker paper over a larger book size. Plus these are smaller and easier to read. The only other paperback alternative to get all short stories is the aforementioned Penguin Vol 1 & Vol 2, which have terrible binding and wafer thin paper. I originally bought copies of those but had to return them because of those issues. Steer clear of those and grab this set.You may ask, why not get the Roald Dahl short story collection in hardcover by Everyman Library? Surely that’s a better quality book at a cheaper price? Well in that edition you’re missing the 7 stories found in “The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar and Six More” plus the two short stories found in his book “Two Fables” published in 1987, which is now out of print. So you’re spending more money to get those stories in your collection already. So if you can find this 8-book set for a good price (I paid $40), then this is absolutely the way to go to have the definitive complete collection of Roald Dahl’s short stories!

Roald Dahl write it well
Have read three of the books in this series. Love that it is old school paperback size. Reads like an autobiography. If your a fan of any of the many Dahl books, don’t miss reading this lore obscure set.
