I purchaced this product because the sales page said it included technical documentation explaining how to test for ions. The package arrived quickly in good working order but no papers. Stupid stars, had to give you one

Efficient generation of negative aerial ions
Working with negative aerial ions is a challenge. Novices need to understand several things. 1) Negative aerial ions are very ephemeral. Creating them is not like releasing a puff of perfume that will remain in the air for several minutes. Once created, negative aerial ions disappear within seconds. 2) Negative aerial ions are strongly attracted to material objects. Hence, ion generators need to be separated from other objects, including support materials such as tables, as much as possible. 3) Most commercial detectors of aerial ions are difficult to work with. Typically, they start by reporting a high value that drifts downwards. The Japanese company Ion-Trading makes a simple detector with a green light that turns on when ions are detected; this yes-no answer makes it the best practical detector that I have found. 4) Most generators of negative ions also produce abundant positive ions. The green-light detector I referred to above will not report this, but Ion-Trading also makes an expensive ($950) detector that reports both positive and negative ions.The 5-pin negative ion generators that this review concerns supply a cloud of negative ions that can be detected 3 feet away when powered by a battery harness containing 8 1.5-volt AA batteries (users will have to wire the connection themselves). These 5-pin generators have an unfortunate tendency to stop functioning suddenly (presumably they burn out); however, given their price, they are overall a good bargain. I recommend ordering several, rather than just one.

I purchased this to make a static grass applicator. This works much better then the electric fly swatter I used to make one earlier.if your looking to make your own static grass applicator used this instead of the electric fly swatter you will be happy you did.

This high voltage power supply worked nicely for the device I made
This high voltage power supply worked nicely for the device I made, which was a concealed shocking device I hide under my pants on my ankle. The only other things I needed were 2 AAA battery packs (4 batteries each for a total of 12V), some lengths of spare wire, foil, old shoes, and Velcro straps to secure the whole business to my ankle. The maximum steady current output is about 0.1 mA, about1/50 of the current needed to cause much of a sensation, and less than 1/100 of the current that will do minor harm. But it puts out enough of a shock to, well, shock someone. NightHawkinLight (on YouTube) used to have a description of this device but he took it off, probably because of the very remote chance it would hurt anyone.
